Online Last Saturday Write-Ins 9am - 11am EST.
Facilitated by Dr. Zelda Lockhart, Registered Expressive Arts Consultant & Educator.
Black Women's Write-Ins are all about the ways that writing heals the soul, and the ways that being in creative community with other Black women heals the soul.
We will utilize guided meditation and other art forms as inspiration in this community writing space. If you have or haven't done a write-in before come and see how Zelda's creative therapeutic guidance and some good company with Black women makes for some transformative writing time.
No Writing Experience Necessary: If you're working on something, cool, bring it. If you haven't worked on a thing, cool, there are writing and journaling prompts Zelda has designed over the years to get you into that deep place of self-discovery.

Join Zelda for this stroll around the 0.8 mile loop of Shepherd's Trail
Duke Forest Gate C Shepherds Trail https://dukeforest.duke.edu/recreation/snt/
We will remember what our foremothers knew about the food and medicine of the plants around us. Zelda will provide us with a little foraging hunt guide for locating some very useful winter foliage.We will light a fire in the outdoor shelter with fireplace at the end of our hike to stay warm, have a hot drink and share out from our experience.
No worries, we won't be eating anything that we see on the trail, but bring:
* Your camera for the things we won't touch or pick but want to remember.
* A journal for the fun ways Zelda will prompt you to remember what you already know about foraging and so that you can press the very few things we will pick.
* Your water bottle

Zelda holds a PhD in Expressive Arts Therapies and is a Registered Expressive Arts Consultant and Educator. Zelda uses memoir and poetry writing along with art and nature to help folks heal, regain a sense of self-agency, and seek and maintain healthy relationships. Zelda's work is particularly helpful for people living with the effects of long-term trauma, which includes adults living with childhood trauma and people living with the impact of social and familial wounds of multigenerational trauma.
The self discoveries encountered during the writing process do what literature can do, offer a long-term road map for the self and offer food, medicine and kinship for others. She utilizes "Personal Plot" a healing-through-writing method outlined in her book The Soul of the Full-Length Manuscript. Personal Plot is helpful for having revelations and forward movement in your relationships with self, family, friends, intimate partnerships, work, and society at large. It is also helpful for reaching goals in life that have felt out of reach, barred by fear, self-judgement and other obstacles.
A 15 min phone consult to measure the good fit will occur before your first session.
